OBJECTIFS DU PROJET (EAU ET CLIMAT…)

The establishment of a Mediterranean knowledge Platform on Water is a prerequisite for the development of sustainable policies for integrated water resources management and their adaptation to climate change. This project responds to a request from the UfM Water Ministers for which it has been awarded the label. He enjoys a strong political commitment and international mobilization. This platform aims on the one hand to provide a common basis for the development of National Water Information Systems (SNIE) in the southern Mediterranean countries; and secondly to produce or contribute to assessments (eg White Paper on Adaptation of IWRM to Climate Change, Nexus Water-Food-Energy-Ecosystems) by collecting and using country data. This request concerns priority regional activities to ensure the coherence of ongoing investments in the pilot countries (Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan and Lebanon), and provide decision support elements for sector investment programs (particularly adaptation to climate change). It is:

  • Support the governance structures of the platform
  • Launch a collaborative web platform for exchanging best practices and disseminating guides
  • Define the sets of indicators and maps needed for IWRM and climate change adaptation plans by considering local, national, transboundary and regional needs (watershed, aquifer)
